Help us fight back against domestic violence in Bergen County by supporting the "Walk Together Against Domestic Violence". The right to live a life free of fear and free of control is something we sometimes take for granted. The opposite reality is unfortunately so for so many of our neighbors, friends, and families of Bergen County. The sometimes misunderstood and uncomfortable nature of this topic is a leading reason why many of those affected by domestic violence don't publicly cry out for help. The Center for Hope and Safety is an open door for those affected by domestic violence 24/7-365 days a year. The Center for Hope and Safety's 24-HOUR HOTLINE: (201) 944-9600. Our job as a community is to raise awareness about domestic violence and be that "voice" that cries out for help for those who cannot. To learn more about the Center for Hope and Safety, click here.
This year the "Walk Together Against Domestic Violence" will take place on Saturday, October 30th at 10 am at Van Saun Park in Paramus, New Jersey. The money raised at the "Walk Together Against Domestic Violence" will go directly to the Center for Hope and Safety to help them continue providing the vital services and shelter that so many Bergen County residents affected by domestic violence desperately need.

Over the past five years, our team has participated in the Walk Together Against Domestic Violence along with so many outstanding teams and friends from around Bergen County. The Allstate Dan Meredith Agency team with the help of the Allstate Foundation and donations from the community has raised upwards of $60,000 in grants and donations for the Center for Hope and Safety. This year is no exception and the need to raise funds for an organization like Center for Hope and Safety is as important today as it was yesterday. The free services, shelter, and educational programs that the Center provides are vital to the wellbeing of Bergen County residents affected by domestic violence. We hope you will help us Fight Back Against Domestic Violence!
Over the years we have made some very close friendships with other people from Rutherford like Pete and Jackie Miragliotta who share the same passion to fight back against domestic violence and educate the community about the resources that are available if they are needed. We’re proud to work together all year long to fundraise and raise awareness that this help is available to those affected by domestic violence for free through organizations like the Center for Hope and Safety. Without great people from the community like Pete and Jackie, the Center for Hope and Safety could not exist.
Jackie and Pete Miragliotta explained, “We wish to thank Kristin and Dan for their generosity and tireless efforts to promote the plight of those affected by domestic abuse. Sadly, we lost our daughter, Michele Renee Sabia, who taught first grade at Washington School, to a domestic homicide five years ago. We and even Michele missed some signs that might have warned us about the potential for violence in her marriage. We desperately want others to understand that domestic violence takes on many forms. And that the psychological, emotional, and financial scars are just as real as black eyes, bloody noses, and broken bones; just not as obvious.”
The Allstate Dan Meredith Agency on Union Ave will be having its Annual Winter Coat Drive to benefit the families and individuals of Bergen County affected by domestic violence starting Wednesday, December 1st and ending Wednesday, January 12th. Bring new and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots. Women's, kids’ (girls and boys), teen girls' and boys' coats can be donated.
