Upcoming Event: RHS' Fall Play, "Clue"

By Jennifer Ersalesi

Each year Rutherford High School presents the Fall Play. This year's production is "Clue", based on the beloved board game and movie. The cast, crew, and production team are excited for audiences to see this show they have been working on since September. This is Rutherford interviewed the director of the show, Mrs. Patricia Blanchard, Vocal Music Teacher at RHS to learn more about the play that will take place on November 15th and 16th.

TIR: Why did you choose “Clue” as the play this year?

Patricia Blanchard: I've wanted to do "Clue" for a few years now, and I think that after "Little Women" this is the perfect comedic show.

TIR: What can audiences expect to see?

PB: The audience is in for a special treat. Not only is the show hilarious, but the set (under the direction of Courtney McManus and former RHS alum, Joe Cisneros) is amazing. The costumes are beautiful, and the overall attention to detail really makes the show stand out.

TIR: “Clue” is a classic board game and popular movie from 1985. How is the play adaptation similar to the movie?

PB: The play is very true to the 1985 movie classic. People who have seen the movie will not be disappointed with the play. It is just as funny and over the top.

TIR: Tell us about the actors in the show.

PB: The actors in the show are doing a fantastic job. The show is unique in that the main characters are on stage for the majority of the production. They have been working hard at perfecting their characters, memorizing their lines, and working on their comedic timing. The audience will not be disappointed!

TIR: How has the stage crew and production team been preparing for the show?

PB: The stage crew has also been working incredibly hard building the set, working on the scene transitions, and prepping all the magical elements of the show. We have an amazing sound, light, and set-building crew. It's truly a team effort, and we would not be able to do it without everyone working together.

TIR: Anything else you wish to add?

PB: I'm so proud of this production. Not only are the actors doing an incredible job, but all the technical aspects are coming together as well to create a truly amazing show. The students are so talented, and I am so excited for everyone to come out and support them 11/15 and 11/16 at 7 PM at Rutherford High School.

This is Rutherford also interviewed three of the actors to learn more about the show. Nicholas Scaglione who plays Mr. Green, Eleri McGregor who plays Mrs. Peacock and Braedon McQuade who plays Wadsworth the Butler.

TIR: What are you enjoying the most about working on this show?

Nicholas Scaglione: What I liked so much about this show was the relationships that I got to create with the wonderful cast and crew. To dive into each character and create such a strong bond with each was the best part for me.

Eleri McGregor: My favorite part about working on this show is growing together with my cast. Every rehearsal I notice castmates making new, bold choices and testing new ways to say their lines. I love watching the way our show comes together.

Braedon McQuade: I really enjoy the comedic and jaw-dropping moments as well as the murder mystery. It keeps the actors and audience members on their toes!

TIR: What are you most excited for audiences to see?

NS: I am excited for the audiences to see the overall duality of the play. The audience will definitely love the funny aspects of the production.

EM: Clue is filled with hilarious bits and one-liners, every single line in the show is important and crafted in such a witty manner. I am excited for audiences to see our take on this comedy and laugh along with us!

BM: I'm really excited for the audience to see the twists and turns that come with the show! To see the entertaining, intense, and plain-out funny scenes that we have to offer.
