Seussical is a combination of many of Dr. Seuss' stories, narrated by Cat in the Hat. A young girl is transported to a strange world, powered by her Thinks. She meets Horton the Elephant, who has discovered an entire universe on a dust speck. He is ridiculed by the other Jungle creatures for his beliefs, and is tricked into sitting on an egg by Mayzie LaBird. Despite it all, his friend Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. The power of friendship and loyalty conquers all!
The best part of working on this show has been developing our young actors. This season was a season of firsts for our cast. Our cast is 37 strong, and many of them have never performed in a musical before. We also have been able to give our students opportunities behind the scenes. We had our first student choreographer, first student seamstress, and first student cover artist. Our students are extremely talented, and we are so happy to be showcasing them.
The audience can expect a performance with a lot of heart! Our students have been rehearsing this show since January. They have spent their time at recess practicing their parts with each other, and have clocked over 140 hours of rehearsal time combined. Their dedication and passion will certainly shine through on May 30-June 2.
The performances will take place on Thursday May 30 at 7:30 PM, Friday May 31 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday June 2 at 3:00 PM. Ticket prices: General Admission $10 and Student Admission $8.
