The Junior Woman's Club of Rutherford (JWCR) is proud to announce the top three winners of its 15th Annual Spelling Bee, which was held on January 24th, 2020 in the Union School Auditorium. The judges at the Spelling Bee were: JWCR President Beverly Khan, Rutherford Superintendent of Education Jack Hurley, and Rutherford Board of Education Member Diana Jones and Pronouncer Rutherford Board of Education member Sally Librera.
Nikhil Maalige, a 5th grader at Pierrepont School, took 1st place, while two other Pierrepont 5th graders, Angel Ajish Yohannan, and Andrew Calvo, took 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
On behalf of Blue Foundry Bank, Carmen Addeo generously provided cash awards in the amounts of $75, $50 $25, for the top three contestants. The top three winners will move onto the New Jersey State Federation of Woman's Clubs of GFWC Palisades District Spelling Bee, to be held in Hasbrouck Heights Middle/High School on February 8th at 10:00 am.
