On Saturday, October 5th, Rutherford High School Marching Band and the RHS Music Boosters hosted a Band Competition at Tryon Field at Memorial Park. There were over 700 spectators and over 1,000 band members who attended the event. Marching Band Director, Michael Faugno, explained, "The band competition continues to be a great event where we can showcase the hard work of all of the students involved. It is an honor that so many schools return to participate in the competition every year."
The following High School Marching bands won first place recognition in their various group divisions:
The Marching band programs ranged in music and theme from Edgar Allen Poe, Vivaldi, Gustav Holst to "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons.
Wendy Armacost, President of the RHS Music Boosters told TIR, "The Music Boosters are extremely happy with this event. We raised over $6,000 which will go towards scholarships for music students and help fund the spring choir/band trip to Boston. We had an excellent group of dedicated parent volunteers and we could not have done it without them!"
