Air High Five at the Kindergarten Center

Information provided by Rutherford Public Schools

By Jennifer Ersalesi

During the first week of school, the kindergarteners and staff at the Kindergarten Center engaged in an activity where they learned to join together as a learning community to support their greater community. Each year, the Kindergarten Center has found a number of different ways to show their recognition of the first responders who assisted during the September 11th attacks and every day in a developmentally-appropriate way. However, this year the Kindergarten Center students and staff extended their gratitude to all of their hometown heroes by celebrating with an Air High Five. The Air High Five included window displays and student-written letters and drawings.

The Kindergarten staff and students wish to say, “Thank you to all those who have helped us through the past few months including mail carriers and delivery services, utility workers, medical professionals, first responders and volunteers, our local business owners that have been creative in how to meet our needs, and to all essential employees! THANK YOU and High Five for a job well done!!”
